OceanAlpha redirect in the frozen continent to build China plant exploration

OceanAlpha has announced that it has dispatched some of its types of autonomous boats to the Antarctic to conduct an underwater topographic survey. This survey was conducted to assist the Chinese mission in their 34th scientific expedition, to help establish the Fifth China Research Station on the Frozen Continent. The mission of OceanAlpha is to assist the Chinese boat “Snow Dragon” in discovering a new area that has not been previously discovered or sailing before, and the current geographical data available are sparse! Another challenge is to find a safe and suitable anchorage for the Chinese boat, "Snow Dragon".

The research team worked to reach a possible solution after a series of rigorous experiments and tests to confront a complex area, with wind speeds of up to 40 m / s - and the temperature is as low as 10 degrees below zero. The team worked to enable the structural strength and the structure on which the vessel is based to withstand low temperatures for a long period of time in order to ensure stable performance, and the team conducted in-depth research on the strength of the structure and the performance of power systems and electronic components in order to achieve a practical design in a harsh region such as the frozen continent . And 4 independent boats were used, they are as follows:

- M80 -1
- ME40 - 3

M80 M80

ME40

Within 20 hours, the boats finished the topographic survey of an area of 5 square kilometers. The M80 was responsible for surveying the deep water area, while small boats surveyed shallow areas near the shore. This process provided geospatial information and supported the pre-existing data for the construction of the exploration station in Antarctica.
