Launch of double frequency sonar for inspections in troubled waters

Tritech International Limited has launched the Gemini 1200ik Dual Frequency Sonar. It is designed for underwater and remote operated vehicles such as (ROVs / AUVs) with the ability to switch between high and low frequencies according to the required application. The 720 kHz low-frequency setting is designed to set targets and avoid long-range obstacles, the 1200 kHz high frequency setting provides close-up images, and the frequency switch can be performed manually or programmatically to happen automatically in a specific range.

The sonar is capable of viewing at a 120-degree angle across both frequencies, ensuring a consistent continuous view of the target in all ranges. This sonar is used for a wide range of applications, including oil, gas, research and exploration of marine creatures. It has been designed for more challenging environments, and operates efficiently up to a depth of 350 m, a range of 2.4 mm, and an effective angle accuracy of 0.12 degrees.
